Let’s start by studying the first 5 letters of the alphabet: A, B, C, D, and E.

The letter A and its diacritics (à, â) are all pronounced the same, as follows:

And here is how it is pronounced in a word, for example: ananas (pineapple).

⚠️ It should be noted however that the ligature æ has 2 possible different pronunciation. 

Either like é

Either like è

The letter B is pronounced as follows:

And here is how it is pronounced in a word, for example: bébé (baby).

The letter C is pronounced as follows:

And here is how it is pronounced in a word, for example: canard (duck).

⚠️ Before E, I, or Y, C is pronounced like S. Before other letters, it is pronounced like a K.

It should be noted that the diacritic ç is pronounced like an S in the word “ça.” Example:

And here is how it is pronounced in a word, for example: dauphin (dolfin).

The è, ë, ê are pronounced as follow:
